Bone Tools

Have you ever wondered how people made their tools before steel became king? There were and ARE many ways to make the tools that you need straight from nature. One of those is bone.

One theory that sets well with me is that many of the indigenous peoples of Minnesota used bone for their arrowheads and knife blades. This is due somewhat to the fact that there is very little high quality stone in Minnesota, and it explains why people rarely find stone artifacts in MN. In this 3 hour workshop we will explore the history and process of making bone tools, and each student will hand make a bone tool such as;

An awl

A fish hook

A needle

An arrowhead

Or a small knife.

Please join us for this fun workshop, and itís only a 3 hour commitment!
