Fire Starting

In this 1/2 day workshop you will learn the basics of fire construction, from the ingredients to the the maintenance. We will cover tinder, kindling, and fuel. How to find dry material and choose the best ingredients for your situation. We will learn several types of fire lays including, teepee fire, log cabin fire, and lean to fire. We will also cover methods of fire building including; 1 match, fire glass, ferrocerium rod, flint and steel, and bow drill.

Minnesota is a cornucopia of outdoor activities. We all need these skills.Do you want to know how to start a fire to keep you and your family warm? Do you want to know how to start a fire in the rain? Each student will come out of this experience with a new sense of confidence, and an advanced knowledge of how to make, maintain and use fire in a outdoor setting.
